Portrait Mode: Fashion & Style - Teens (Mar 10-14)
Dates: March 10 - 14, 2025
Meetings: Monday - Friday, 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM CST (5 sessions)

Are you passionate about capturing style and personality through the lens? This intensive week-long course invites students to delve into the captivating world of style and fashion photography. Participants will learn and practice essential creative techniques – from harnessing natural light in their surroundings to setting up a studio with artificial light backdrops and props. This hands-on course invites students to develop their creativity and imagery through live demonstrations and guided photoshoots in a natural environment and a photo studio. Subjects include composition guidelines, posing and expressions, evoking mood and conveying personality, environmental portraits in natural light, essential studio equipment, and continuous lighting techniques. We invite you to bring your artistic vision to life through your lens and create exciting new imagery to elevate your portfolio.
Objectives:
Create visually engaging and impactful photographs
Learn how to use natural and artificial lighting to your advantage
Apply advanced guidelines to refine your compositions and framing
Develop your posing skills and gain expertise in directing models
Photograph dynamic and flattering fashion portraits enhancing your portfolio
Understand the importance of nurturing relationships and creating a relaxed atmosphere with models & other creatives, fostering collaboration and authentic expressions

Prerequisites:
A DSLR, Mirrorless, or other camera with manual controls is highly recommended. However, the course is also applicable to smartphone camera users. This class is limited to Teens between 14 and 18 years old.
Course Prep:
For our first meeting, please put together a small collection of photos that inspire you and you hope to take someday to share with the class.
