Meetings: Wednesdays, 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM CST (4 sessions)

Adobe Lightroom has become the standard for organizing, managing, and cataloging photographs offering powerful image processing and presentation capabilities. This course offers an in-depth introduction to the many features of this indispensable software and guides students through applying a correct digital workflow to their photographic practice. You will learn how to process your photos, correct exposures, adjust the white balance, enhance details, correct colors, and much more. You will gain confidence controlling Adobe Lightroom, allowing you to explore your creativity and develop a personal style.
Objectives:
Understand the concept of Adobe Lightroom and how it relates to image files
Implement a digital photography workflow as an integral part of your practice
Organize and select pictures effectively using the Library module
Understand the building blocks of an image and the color wheel
Process your pictures into stunning images using the Develop module’s powerful tools
Creatively apply both global and local adjustments effectively using the brush tool
Learn how to retouch your pictures using a variety of tools and techniques
Prerequisites:
Students wishing to use HCP’s Digital Lab computers and have free access to Adobe Lightroom Classic must be Mac OS proficient. PC users are strongly encouraged to bring their personal laptops installed with the latest version of Adobe Lightroom Classic to class.
Course Prep:
Please bring with you to class a selection of your image files on a flash drive or hard disk. An Adobe Lightroom Classic subscription is highly recommended in order to use the software at home.
