Join us on Sunday, January 21st, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM for the Closing Event of Houston Center for Photography’s and Magnum Photos’ first collaboration — a residency and masterclass with Magnum photographer Yael Martínez.
Registration is required via this link.
Houston, the 4th largest city in the United States, is a city whose stunning growth and high-volume immigration have turned it into the most racially and ethnically diverse major metropolis in the country, surpassing New York in 2010. Magnum photographer Yael Martínez arrived in Houston for a 10-day residency (January 11-21) during which he collaborated with local communities to create new inspiring work. The “On Communities” masterclass invited 10 photographers living in Houston and its proximity to create 10 varied responses to the question ‘What are Houston’s communities?’.
Presentations will include the following masterclass participants (presented in alphabetical order) as well as Yael Martínez himself:
Brian Bui
Joseph Bui
Sol Diaz
Jake Eshelman
Mark Felix
Ryan Hollaway
Valentine Ollawa
Jeff Paxton
Briana Vargas
Dranat Vazquez
This event is free and open to the public (RSVP is required).
