Candid City: Street Photography - Teens (Jun 16-20)
Dates: June 16 - 20, 2025 (no class on June 19)
Meetings: Monday - Friday, 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM CST (4 sessions)

In this one-week intensive class, students are introduced to the genre of street photography and learn the secrets of finding the perfect light, crafting dynamic compositions, and identifying decisive moments. Dive into the intricacies of spotting interesting characters that add depth to your visual narratives. Objectives:
Learn to identify decisive moments in evolving situations
Improve your technical proficiency in adapting to fast-changing environments
Practice lighting techniques and how to perfect your compositions
Discuss and understand the complexities related to documenting characters
Review ethical considerations for respectful interactions in public spaces
Sharpen your cultural sensitivity while photographing diverse communities
Develop your personal portfolio by adding exciting new images
Prerequisites:
This class is limited to Teens between 14 to 18 years old and is suited for photographers using any type of camera (including smartphones). Students should be able to select and bring pictures for daily critiques in class. Familiarity with Adobe Lightroom is a plus.
Course Prep:
For the first class, students should bring 5-10 pictures they have photographed (preferably related to street photography but not a must). In addition, please bring 3-5 pictures of a street photographer you appreciate and be ready to explain what you like about their imagery.
