Digital Lab Crash Course (Nov 23)

The Digital Lab Crash Course is a prerequisite workshop designed to equip members with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively utilize HCP’s state-of-the-art digital lab facilities. This workshop is essential for individuals interested in exploring the full potential of HCP’s equipment and software with the intention of reserving digital lab stations for scanning their images, processing their digital files in a calibrated environment, and producing stunning prints. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the digital lab environment, including the lab's policies, procedures, and safety guidelines. Emphasis will be placed on hands-on, practical training to enable students to confidently navigate the lab and utilize its various features and resources.
Objectives:
Familiarize yourself with the layout, equipment, and resources available at HCP Digital Lab
Get introduced to the configurations, software programs, and tools offered in the Digital Lab
Acquire the necessary skills needed to operate the lab's state-of-the-art printing and scanning equipment
Review scanning techniques for both film and prints
Discuss and practice printing on Epson P800 printers in order to achieve optimal results
Practice using ICC profiles for various types of paper
Receive a demonstration on how to use the Epson 9900 printer
Review lab policies and procedures
Prerequisites: Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Lightroom Classic
Course Prep:
Students must bring to class a few high-resolution pictures of their work and their preferred choice of printing paper. Students may also bring prints or film for scanning.
