Sanne De Wilde

Sanne De Wilde (Belgium, 1987) is a visual storyteller working with the medium of photography, film, installation and painting, creating long term work on genetics, identity and perception while experimenting with collaborative approaches in storytelling. She graduated with a Master in the Fine Arts at KASK, Ghent (BE) with great honors in 2012. She is represented by East Wing Gallery (Doha, Qatar).

De Wilde’s award winning work was recognized by Photo Academy Award (2012), the International Photography Award Emergentes DST (2013), 16ème Prix National Photographie Ouverte, NuWork Award, Nikon Press Award (2014, 2016), and de Zilveren Camera Award among others. Her recent project ‘Land of Ibeji’, photographed in collaboration with Bénédicte Kurzen, won a World Press Photo Award, the Rovinj Photo Award, Liangzhou Award, CAP Prize, Prix Voies OFF,  and was nominated for the ZEISS Photography Award in 2019. 

De Wilde's work has been published in international magazines including The Guardian, New Yorker, Le Monde, CNN, and Vogue. Her series have been exhibited extensively at Rencontres d’Arles, Voies OFF, Tribeca Film Festival, Circulations, Lagos Photo, Lodz Fotofestiwal, IDFA, STAM, Tribeca Film Festival, PHI center in Montreal, and EYE Filmmuseum to name a few.

De Wilde completed a two-year professorship at the University of Applied Science and Arts in Dortmund, Germany and was an adjunct faculty member at the International Center for Photography (ICP), New York. In 2025, she joined the faculty of the Houston Center for Photography (HCP).
