A series exploring a social, cultural, political, or personal subject has the power to expand viewers’ perspectives or tell a story in a unique, convincing, and visually compelling way. Developing an interesting project can captivate us for months or even years, yet many wonderful ideas and concepts remain in the initial phase. How do we embrace short and long-term endeavors? How do we break down the larger context into important details and nuances? What should we commit to in the process of developing a project?
Violette Bule is a Venezuelan-Lebanese conceptual artist. Her work engages with a wide variety of topics, including migration, identity, memory, violence, community engagement, digital technologies, the politics of space, and the social and political reality of contemporary Venezuela.
André Ramos-Woodard is a photo-based artist who uses their work to emphasize the experiences of marginalized communities while accenting the repercussions of contemporary and historical discrimination. His art conveys ideas of communal and personal identity, influenced by their direct experience with life as a queer African American.
Natan Dvir is an educator, artist, and editorial photographer whose personal work focuses on the human aspects of cultural, social, and political issues. He joined HCP as Director of Education in April 2023, after establishing the Part-Time Programs at the International Center of Photography (ICP) from 2021-2022.
